AHA SUCH AS CITRIC ACID IN TONER-IS IT GOOD OR BAD? -DR.LYNA AESTHETIC DOCTOR
What Is Citric Acid?
Citric acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), extracted from citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, and grapefruits.
Alpha-hydroxy acids work by helping to dissolve the "glue" that keeps dead cells stuck together on the surface of the skin. By promoting cell turnover and helping these dead cells slough off, it helps unclog pores, even out skin tone, and improve overall textures.
Citric acid as an AHA can help to dry out excess oil and leaving the skin feeling clean.
Citric acid is considered gentle than other AHA but it is
still an acid, which means there's always some potential for
irritation. Those with sensitive skin or
an inflammatory skin condition must take extra careful if still want to use citric acid in their daily skincare regime. Please make sure no citric acid or AHA or BHA in the toner or serum.
Citric acid will also make your skin more susceptible to the sun, so it is very important to add sunscreen/sunblock on top of your skin.
