Facial acne is common problem among adolescents and can cause major impact on their quality of life .

Acne vulgaris is a chronic disorder of the pilosebaceous follicles, characterized by comedones, papules, pustules, cysts, nodules and occasionally scars. 

Acne is the most common dermatological condition encountered in adolescents. The prevalence of acne is thought to vary between ethnic groups and countries.



Various triggers and aggravating factors have been identified–increasing pubertal age, seborrhea, premenstrual phase, mental stress, sweet and oily foods have been reported as risk factors for moderate to severe acne.

There was a correlation between the severity of scars and the duration of delay between the onset of acne lesions and the start of treatment. Thus, it is very important for earlier treatment strategy.
